DISCOVERING THE CHAPADA

At first glance, the scenery deceives the eye, not immediately revealing its wonders.
The vegetation seems harsh, with twisted trees that form strange shapes amidst bushes and creeping plants. Those who delve further into the mysteries of the Chapada discover unexpected riches.
From the apparently homogenous landscape unfold flowered fields, tropical meadows, and gallery forests. Enchanted trails lead to monumental waterfalls, deep canyons, and vast mountains. The Chapada stands as one of the most luminous regions on the planet, thanks to the extensive conglomerates of quartz crystals, which sprouted sprout from the fusion of two tectonic plates over a billion years ago.
The result of this extremely ancient geological formation was the emergence of a solid and stable mountain range that forms the ridge of Central Brazil. The predominant formation ís the high altitude cerrado, which reaches I,600 meters at some points.
As one of the last remaining reserves of pure water on the planet, the Chapada dos Veadeiros shelters the híghest springs of the Tocantins River (Amazon Basin), formed by the Paranã and Maranhão Rivers.
An untapped source of bio-diversity arises from the flora in medicinal plants, savory fruits, and delicate flowers. The fauna is also widely diversified, ranging from deer, spotted leopards, and wolves, to ostriches and roadrunners, armadillos and anteaters. Flyíng among the branches and clouds are parrots, macaws, parakeets, tucans, hawks, and quails.
The first settings sprang up in the beginning of the l7th century, yet only in the 20th° century did a greater influx of people arrive a t this forgotten land in the northeast of Goiás, comprising the municipalities of Alto Paraíso, Cavalcante, Colinas do Sul, São joão da Aliança, and Teresina de Goíás.
The soil is delicate and predominantly inappropriate for agriculture. Thc climate features mild temperatures ranging from 18 to 24 degrees Celsius. Summertime is the rainy season, whereas the winter is dry, so with each, season a new Chapada springs forth.
